How Many Days After Your Period Can You Get Pregnant?
The signs of your fertility is one of your ovaries will release an egg (ovulation) about 14 days before your period starts. The first day of your period, when you start bleeding, is counted as the first day of your cycle. If you have a 28-day cycle, usually you will ovulate between day 10 and day 15 of your cycle.
During your period, usually an egg is developing, ready for release mid-cycle. The time it takes for an egg to mature within the ovary can vary, and this means that the day you ovulate can also vary from cycle to cycle. For example, if your cycle is short, 22 days, then you could ovulate just days after your period, if your period lasted seven days.
The longest the sperm can survive in fertile cervical mucus is 7 days. So if you ovulate a little earlier than usual, it may just be possible for you to get pregnant.
Before ovulation, your body temperature drops and then rises. You are fertile for one day before the temperature drops, and for one day after it remains elevated, then your cervical secretions go through a cycle of changes too.
As you approach your fertile period the secretions increase and become clearer, stretchy, and slippery ready to receive sperm for getting pregnant.
Here is an approximate fertility guide based on a 28-day cycle to help you get pregnant, but there can be a slight chance of getting pregnant throughout your cycle as men's sperm can live inside a woman for as long as seven days.
